CHARLESTON — A man was charged on January 26 with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, which occurred on December 15.
Trevis Dwayne Deas, 49, faces charges following the death of 78-year-old Christine Harris, who was struck around 8:30 a.m. while walking in the 1200 block of King Street, near Mount Pleasant Street.
According to police, Deas initially left the scene after the collision but returned later, admitting his involvement. Authorities stated Deas failed to seek assistance or contact law enforcement.
As of January 27, he was being held without bond. The investigation is ongoing.
