Train Crash in Northeast Minneapolis Injures Two Drivers
Minneapolis, MN — A collision between a car and a freight train occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, on Central Avenue Northeast near Columbia Parkway.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, a woman driving a Cadillac Escalade was stopped at a railroad crossing when a man operating a Toyota RAV4 struck the vehicle from behind. The impact pushed both vehicles into the path of a passing freight train.
Both drivers were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment. The male driver sustained life-threatening injuries, while the female driver is expected to survive.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to manage the situation, which resulted in significant debris, including crumpled vehicles and a dislodged tire scattered across the road and railroad tracks. A snapped railroad crossing arm was also observed, hanging in an upright position.
