AUBURN, ME – A portion of Interstate 95 was closed Thursday night following a crash involving a pickup truck that caught fire.
The incident occurred near mile marker 74 shortly after 8:30 p.m. According to Maine State Police, the driver, Juan-Manuel Munoz Rosquete, 40, of Tampa, Florida, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway.
Police said the Ram pickup truck, which was towing a flatbed trailer, struck a speed limit sign and adjacent guardrail before jackknifing and igniting. Both Munoz Rosquete and a male passenger managed to escape with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Munoz Rosquete has been charged with operating without a license. The crash remains under investigation.
