Two Injured in Sanford Single-Vehicle Crash on Saturday Evening
SANFORD, ME — Two individuals were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Main Street at 7 p.m. Saturday, according to authorities.
Hunter Penley, 23, of North Berwick, was driving a Kia Forte northbound when he lost control at the intersection with S-Curve Road. The vehicle struck several trees and rolled onto its side, said Tim Strout, Deputy Chief of the Sanford Police Department.
Penley was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with unspecified injuries. His passenger, Dean Towne, 42, of Acton, sustained incapacitating injuries and was airlifted to Maine Medical Center. Both individuals have since been treated and released.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but Strout indicated that Penley was driving erratically prior to the incident.
