Two individuals lost their lives in a crash involving a car and two motorcycles in the Town of Concord on Sunday morning. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reported the incident occurred on County Trunk F, approximately one mile north of U.S. Highway 18, at 10:08 a.m.
Emergency responders discovered a black Ford Focus alongside two Harley Davidson motorcycles at the crash site. According to Sheriff Travis Maze, the Ford Focus was heading south on County Trunk F while the motorcycles were traveling northbound.
The driver of the Focus stated that he mistakenly believed the motorcycles were in the southbound lane, prompting him to veer into oncoming traffic. This action resulted in a collision as the Focus entered the northbound lanes.
While the driver of the Ford Focus sustained minor injuries and was subsequently transported to Aurora Summit Hospital for medical care, one motorcyclist also received minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital.
Tragically, the rider and passenger of the second motorcycle incurred serious injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, being conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigation Team.
