NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Two people died and two others sustained injuries in a two-car crash early Sunday morning.
North Las Vegas Police were dispatched at 1:05 a.m. to the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Clayton Street. Authorities said a 2016 Honda HR-V traveling east at high speeds ran a red light and collided with a 2005 Ford Expedition heading north on Clayton Street.
The impact caused both vehicles to spin out, striking a power pole and a wall. A 38-year-old passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The 53-year-old driver was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Two other occupants were also taken to UMC with injuries, but are expected to survive.
Authorities suspect impairment and have obtained a search warrant for blood samples from the Honda driver.
