Two Critically Injured After Cessna Crashes in Lancaster Neighborhood

Two people were injured when a 1962 Cessna crashed along Rainbow Drive in Lancaster at 10:41 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Authorities said the crash occurred between Noland Drive and State Route 188.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the aircraft was en route to Fairfield County Airport from Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Troopers said the Cessna was on final approach, experienced a mechanical issue, attempted an emergency landing and struck multiple trees.

Authorities identified the pilot as 19-year-old Grant Keefer, of Lancaster, and the passenger as 18-year-old Harper Kline, of Zanesville.

Both occupants were transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries, authorities said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, and the Federal Aviation Administration is conducting a separate investigation.
