COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two civil lawsuits have been filed over a May wrong-way crash on state Route 315 that killed one person.
According to court filings, the suits were brought by the estate of Kaitlyn Spahr, who died in the crash, and by Soogie Choi, who was seriously injured.
Both suits name two defendants: Xiaoke Fan, accused of stealing a car and driving the wrong way before a head-on collision with the vehicle carrying Spahr and Choi; and the car's owner.
According to WSYX reports, the SR 315 northbound crash left 1 dead and 5 hospitalized.
Authorities said Fan faces multiple criminal charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated robbery.
According to the complaints, the second defendant assumed responsibility for Fan by inviting her into the car and driving her to a hospital instead of calling police, then leaving the vehicle running with the keys inside, enabling Fan to take it.
Authorities previously said Fan threatened the woman with a rock to obtain the car.
No civil court date has been set, and the criminal case remains pending.
