SYRACUSE, Utah (KUTV) — Two 13-year-old girls riding an electric scooter were killed in a collision with a pickup truck at Banbury Drive and Heritage Parkway on Wednesday at approximately 1 p.m.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident but confirmed both girls succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed the pickup truck, towing a trailer, was traveling southbound on Banbury Drive, while the girls were heading west on Heritage Parkway when they collided in the intersection.
The truck driver remained on-site and is cooperating with the Syracuse Police Department's investigation. Authorities stated, “The weight of this loss is especially heavy for the families and loved ones of the victims. We extend our condolences to the families, friends, and community members affected by this tragedy.”
The identities of the victims have not been disclosed as officials continue efforts to notify their families.
