JOINER, Ark. (TNND) — A 3-year-old boy emerged unharmed from a rollover crash following a police pursuit led by his mother on May 2.
According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), the incident occurred in Mississippi County when a trooper attempted to pull over a Dodge Charger for speeding. The driver, identified as Thalia Jones, 23, refused to stop, prompting the trooper to employ a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver. This action caused the vehicle to lose control and flip onto its roof.
While waiting for backup, troopers observed Jones helping her son out of the wrecked car. Bodycam footage captured a trooper reassuring the child, “You're okay, come right here baby, come right here.” Both Jones and her son received medical clearance at the scene, with the child later released to another adult.
Jones faces multiple charges, including speeding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, child endangerment, and unauthorized use of another person's vehicle. The vehicle was reported to belong to her boyfriend, and ASP has notified the Child Abuse Hotline regarding the incident.
