Tiger Woods pleads not guilty to DUI in crash where authorities discovered opioids.

JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2023)—Professional golfer Tiger Woods faces charges of driving under the influence following a crash on a residential road.

According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Woods' Land Rover collided with a truck while traveling at high speeds. Witnesses reported the truck driver assisted Woods from his vehicle, but neither sustained injuries. The truck incurred $5,000 in damages.

Woods was observed displaying signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes and a slow, lethargic demeanor. Deputies found hydrocodone pills in his pocket, which he admitted to taking earlier in the morning. During a field sobriety test, Woods struggled to comply with instructions and was observed limping due to past surgeries.

The golfer, 50, has entered a not guilty plea and intends to waive his appearance at a scheduled arraignment on April 23. He has been released on bail after eight hours in custody.

Authorities confirmed that Woods agreed to a Breathalyzer test, which showed no alcohol presence, but he declined a urine test. Under recent changes to Florida law, refusal to submit to a lawful test is now classified as a misdemeanor.

No comments have been made by Woods' camp or the PGA Tour regarding the incident. Investigations are ongoing.
