STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — Tiger Woods has been ordered to appear in Martin County court on May 5 for misdemeanor charges related to a suspected DUI crash.
Court records confirm Woods is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. at the Martin County Courthouse. The charges include driving under the influence causing damage to property or a person, and refusal to submit to a breath, blood, or urine test.
The charges stem from a March 27 rollover crash on South Beach Road in Jupiter Island. According to authorities, Woods attempted to pass a pickup truck towing a trailer, crossed over double solid lines, and struck the trailer, leading to his SUV flipping over. No serious injuries were reported.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office recently released body-worn camera footage from deputies who responded to the incident. The video shows Woods stating he was looking down at his phone and adjusting the radio when the crash occurred.
Witness accounts included signs of impairment, such as bloodshot eyes and lethargic movements. Hydrocodone pills were discovered in Woods' pocket, and he informed deputies he had not consumed alcohol, attributing his condition to prior surgeries.
Woods has pleaded not guilty to the charges and waived his arraignment, remaining free on bond. He has received permission from the court to travel abroad for inpatient treatment, provided he returns for scheduled court appearances. As of now, no trial date has been set beyond the May 5 court date.
