Tiger Woods Found with Hydrocodone Pills in Pocket at Crash Scene, Deputies Report.

JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2023) — Golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a crash on a residential road, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said Woods was driving a Land Rover when he clipped a truck at approximately 2:41 p.m., causing his vehicle to roll onto its side. Neither Woods, 50, nor the truck driver sustained injuries. Damage to the truck was estimated at $5,000.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where Woods was found to have bloodshot eyes and was reportedly lethargic. Deputies indicated he was sweating and had prescribed hydrocodone pills in his pocket. He admitted to taking medication earlier that day.

During a field sobriety test, deputies observed Woods limping and struggling with instructions. He agreed to a Breathalyzer test, which indicated no alcohol in his system, but refused a urine test, leading to his arrest for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Woods was released on bail approximately eight hours after his arrest. He is scheduled for arraignment on April 23. No attorney has been listed for him in court records.

The investigation remains ongoing, with lane closures reported as deputies collected evidence at the scene. Authorities emphasized that Woods showed signs of impairment while operating the vehicle.
