According to the Tucson Police Department, the incident occurred around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Valencia Road and Country Club Road. A Genesis driven by 22-year-old Christian Isaiah Randall and a Charger driven by a 16-year-old were allegedly racing when the Genesis crashed into a Camry, splitting it in half.

Authorities reported that the child, identified as Anna, was properly restrained in a seat at the time of the collision. Medical responders transported the mother to a nearby hospital, where she is receiving care for serious injuries.

Randall faces charges including second-degree murder and two counts of endangerment and aggravated assault, while the juvenile is also facing related charges. The teenager's identity has not been released due to his minor status.

The Charger fled the scene but was later located at a residence, leading to the identification of the minor involved. Police stated that both suspects were traveling at excessive speeds.

Randall suffered minor injuries and is currently held at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex with a $500,000 bond. The teenager is detained at the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
