TUCSON, Ariz. (TNND) — A 3-year-old girl was killed and her pregnant mother injured in a multi-vehicle collision linked to reckless driving on Friday afternoon.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 1 p.m. at the intersection of Valencia Road and Country Club Road. A Hyundai Genesis, driven by 22-year-old Christian Isaiah Randall, was reportedly speeding alongside a Dodge Charger operated by a 16-year-old boy when the Genesis collided with a Toyota Camry.
Authorities confirmed that the Camry was split in half upon impact, resulting in the death of the girl, identified as Anna, who was properly restrained in a car seat. The child's mother sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Randall and the underage driver face multiple charges, including second-degree murder and aggravated assault. The 16-year-old's name has not been released due to his minor status. The Dodge Charger fled the scene but was later located at a residence, leading investigators to the driver.
Randall received minor injuries and has been arrested, currently held at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on a $500,000 bond. The teenager is being detained at the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
