Three Dead, Two Injured in SUV Crash in Northern Colorado
A speeding SUV crash on Weld County Road 80 near Ault resulted in three fatalities and two injuries Saturday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:18 p.m. involving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Five men were ejected from the vehicle when it veered off the road into a ditch, lost control, and rolled back onto the roadway. Ault is located approximately 12 miles north of Greeley.
Three passengers died at the scene: a 19-year-old man from Eaton, a 20-year-old man from Eaton, and a 19-year-old man from Greeley. The Weld County Coroner's Office will formally identify the victims.
The driver, a 20-year-old man from Wyoming, was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. A fourth passenger, also a 19-year-old man from Eaton, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Eastbound Weld County Road 80 remained closed for six hours following the incident, reopening around 11:15 p.m., according to state patrol officials.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash.
