HOOKSETT, ME—A head-on collision occurred on Interstate 293 Tuesday morning after a vehicle crossed the median, according to authorities.
The incident took place around 7:45 a.m. near Exit 1. A 32-year-old man from Maine was driving northbound when his vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with a southbound vehicle.
Emergency responders from the Hooksett Fire Department and New Hampshire State Police arrived on scene shortly after the crash. One person sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle reported minor injuries but declined medical attention.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and the northbound lane was closed for approximately one hour to facilitate the investigation and clear debris.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, according to police. Authorities urge any witnesses to come forward with information that may assist in the investigation.
