Four Injured in Raleigh Collision on I-440, Authorities Confirm Life-Threatening Injuries
RALEIGH, N.C. — Four individuals sustained injuries, two of which are life-threatening, during a multi-vehicle collision on I-440 at 2:41 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, the accident involved three vehicles in the westbound lanes near the exit for US-1. Emergency responders from the Raleigh Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.
Two of the injured were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the other two sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of those involved have not been released.
Authorities reported that I-440 was reduced to one lane as emergency personnel worked to clear the wreckage. Tows for the vehicles involved were arranged, and the lanes remained partially closed for over an hour.
An investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway. No additional details have been provided at this time.
