KEENE, N.D. — A 19-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash Saturday, August 29, in McKenzie County.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Watford City resident was driving a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound on Highway 23 near mile marker 22 at 6:43 a.m. Saturday. The truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2013 Peterbilt, driven by a 36-year-old man from Williston.
The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The Peterbilt driver suffered no injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The collision caused a partial closure of Highway 23 from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. Highway 23 runs through McKenzie County, connecting Watford City to New Town and further northeast to Velva.
The Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
