Taylor Swift Donates $50K to Injured Connecticut Mother
HOPKINTON, RI—Pop star Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to support 42-year-old Ashley Taunton, who was seriously injured while aiding crash victims on Interstate 95, according to reports.
Taunton was driving with her youngest daughter on July 22 when she encountered a car that had hydroplaned. Witnesses reported that as she stopped to assist the teenagers involved, another vehicle lost control. Taunton pushed one of the teens out of harm's way and was subsequently struck by the vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that Taunton sustained life-threatening injuries, including a ruptured diaphragm, broken ribs, and internal bleeding. She has undergone three major surgeries and is currently in recovery.
Swift's contribution was made to a GoFundMe account established for Taunton, which aims to cover household expenses, medical costs, and travel for her family. According to campaign organizers, the support is intended to alleviate financial burdens stemming from the incident.
The teenager Taunton helped was later identified as the son of a longtime family friend, a connection discovered by Taunton's husband and daughter upon their arrival at the hospital.
“It's been a journey, but we've had so much support that it's overwhelming,” Joe Taunton told local media.
