COLUMBUS, Ohio — A deadly Monday morning crash on I-270 near Georgesville Road in southwest Columbus left one woman dead and led to an arrest.
According to police, Jaricah Wright is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the crash that killed 45-year-old Jodi Tackett and seriously injured another person.
Authorities said Tackett was in the passenger seat of a car stopped on the left shoulder behind two adults changing a tire on a minivan.
Police said Wright lost control of her car and struck the parked car, pushing it into the minivan.
Tackett died at the scene. One of the individuals working on the minivan was transported to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
According to initial reports, Interstate 270 was shut down on the southwest side and ramps from I-70 were closed during the response. The investigation is ongoing.
Police said Wright ran from the scene but was later taken into custody.
According to police and court records, Wright was involved in a separate fatal crash in July 2020 and faced multiple suspended-license cases in 2024; those counts were dismissed in exchange for an OVI plea. Records show she filed a motion to withdraw that plea in March 2026 and remains on probation.
