PITT COUNTY, N.C. — A fatal hit-and-run crash on U.S. 13 left one motorcyclist dead and occurred at 7:53 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a vehicle collided with a motorcycle at the intersection of U.S. 13 and U.S. 264 Alternate, near Moye-Turnage Road, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected.
The suspect's vehicle fled the scene, last seen traveling south on U.S. 13 toward Greene County. Witnesses described it as dark-colored with significant damage to its right side.
The victim, identified as 62-year-old Robinson Babcock of Winterville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have notified his next of kin.

Part of U.S. Highway 13 and U.S. 264 was closed due to the crash, impacting traffic near Farmville and Greenville. The Farmville Fire Department reported the incident at the intersection of East Marlboro Road and U.S. 13, prompting traffic to be rerouted.
The closures affected U.S. 13 between Ballards Crossroads Road and Moye-Turnage Road, as well as U.S. 264 in both directions. The Bell Arthur Fire Department supported operations at the scene.
All lanes have reopened, and normal traffic flow has resumed in the area.
