A pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Greenville last week has died, according to an update from the Greenville Police Department.
Willie Harris Jr., 33, was pronounced dead Friday evening at ECU Health after being hospitalized in critical condition due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Kristin Drive and Greenville Boulevard. Harris reportedly ran into the roadway and was in the center turn lane attempting to retrieve a dropped item when he was struck by a vehicle.
The driver, who sustained minor injuries and was also transported to ECU Health, will not face charges related to Harris' death. The investigation remains ongoing by the department's Traffic Safety Unit.
