Crash on Southbound Interstate 25 Blocks Traffic in El Paso County
A two-vehicle crash involving a semitrailer caused significant lane closures on southbound Interstate 25 in El Paso County Monday afternoon, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Troopers responded to the incident at 1:18 p.m., approximately five miles south of the International Pikes Peak Raceway. A semitrailer transporting cars rolled over after veering off the highway, striking the median and guardrail before reentering the southbound lanes. A pickup truck was also involved, but details on how it was struck remain unclear.
Paramedics transported one individual to the hospital as a precautionary measure, while the number of occupants in each vehicle has not been disclosed.
As of 5 p.m., the right lane of southbound I-25 remains closed between Exit 119 for Rancho Colorado Boulevard and Exit 116 for County Line Road. The Colorado Department of Transportation reported that cleanup efforts are ongoing.
Authorities noted that all southbound lanes are shut down and urged drivers to be cautious, as traffic in the northbound lanes is impeded due to motorists slowing down at the crash scene.
This incident is under investigation, and further details will be provided as they become available.
