A motorcyclist died following a crash on Route 1 in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, Tuesday night.
According to South Kingstown Police, the incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Route 1 northbound, south of Torrey Road. All northbound lanes were closed from South County Commons to Torrey Road while emergency personnel responded to the scene. Motorists faced significant traffic delays and were advised to seek alternate routes.
NBC10 Boston affiliate WJAR reported that 28-year-old Michael Fletcher succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities believe he may have lost control of his motorcycle south of the Tower Hill Fire Station and do not suspect another vehicle was involved.
