Skier Dies Following Crash at Breckenridge Ski Resort
BRECKENRIDGE, CO – A male skier died Wednesday afternoon after a crash in a double-black-diamond area at Breckenridge Ski Resort, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the resort around 1:30 p.m. after ski patrollers administered CPR to the skier in the Lake Chutes area on Peak 8. The skier, who was from out of state and wearing a helmet, was alone when he fell. No other individuals were involved in the incident.
A witness reported the crash to the Breckenridge Ski Patrol, which transported the skier to the Peak 8 First Aid Room, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, sheriff's officials said.
The Summit County Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death. The skier has not yet been publicly identified.
“Our mountain community feels these losses deeply,” said Summit County Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons. “We extend our sincere condolences to the skier's family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
