Okeechobee County, Fla. — Several students were transported to the hospital following a bus and vehicle collision this morning at the intersection of 128th Ave and Highway 70 West.
According to the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office (OCSO), the incident involved Bus 2 during its morning route. Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries were reported. Some students were taken to Raulerson Hospital as a precaution.
Okeechobee County Schools confirmed that both the students and the bus driver did not sustain serious injuries. They expressed gratitude towards the OCSO and Okeechobee County Fire Rescue for their rapid and professional response, as well as appreciation for the coordination from the Okeechobee County Transportation Department and Okeechobee High School staff.
After the crash, authorities closed the roadway. It has since been reopened. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
