GERMANTOWN, Md. (WJLA) — A two-vehicle crash this morning at 5:30 a.m. on Clopper Road and Great Seneca Highway left one man dead and seven juveniles injured.
Authorities reported that a blue vehicle, occupied by a 31-year-old man, collided with a white vehicle containing seven children aged 12 to 15. The adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. The juveniles, all without a licensed driver present, have been transported to area hospitals, with several reported in critical condition.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded promptly, extinguishing a fire in the overturned vehicle and rescuing trapped individuals.
Police confirmed that none of the juveniles were eligible to drive, stating, “What I can say to you is that the white vehicle had juveniles in the vehicle. They were between the ages of 12 and 15; none of them were licensed,” according to Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Shiera Goff.
The intersection remains closed while investigators reconstruct the scene. Authorities advise drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Further investigation is ongoing.
