Two Dead in Interstate 195 Crash in Dartmouth, MA

DARTMOUTH, MA — Two men died following a crash on Interstate 195 west near Exit 19 on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities responded at approximately 1:35 p.m. to reports of a gray Chevy Equinox crashing. The vehicle overturned, ejecting the two male occupants, both suffering life-threatening injuries, according to the Massachusetts State Police and Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Emergency Medical Services transported the victims to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where they were shortly thereafter. The victims were identified as 19-year-old Kevin Dos Santos Lopes of New Bedford and 18-year-old Amilton De Pina Semedo of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

The crash severely damaged the vehicle, dislodging its engine. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the accident, but authorities said it is not considered suspicious.

Following the incident, the westbound center and right travel lanes were closed for an investigation, leading to slowed traffic in the area. The investigation into the crash continues.
