LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A woman was sentenced Thursday for a deadly 2015 crash on the Las Vegas Strip that killed one and injured nearly 40 others.
Lakeisha Holloway, now known as Paris Morton, received an 18 years to life prison sentence, with a decade credited for time already served, according to Judge Tierra Jones.
The incident occurred on December 20, 2015, when Holloway drove her vehicle onto a crowded sidewalk near Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino, striking multiple pedestrians before coming to a halt near Horseshoe Las Vegas. Jessica Valenzuela, 32, was killed in the crash, and nearly 40 others suffered injuries, some critically. Authorities confirmed Holloway's young child was in the car during the incident.
Following years of delayed court proceedings related to Holloway's mental competency, she pleaded guilty in August 2025 to second-degree murder and battery with a deadly weapon. A recent attempt to withdraw her plea was rejected, according to court records.
Witnesses reported that Holloway had been living in her car with her child in the days leading up to the crash. She underwent several mental health evaluations before being deemed fit to proceed with her trial.
