Sanford, Maine Crash Claims Lives of Husband and Wife.

SANFORD, ME — A husband and wife died, and another person was seriously injured in a crash on Main St. Sunday morning.

Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 9 a.m. near 1811 Main St., involving a 2024 Malibu and a 2019 Highlander.

Police reported that Arthur Karcher, 86, and his wife, Catherine Karcher, 85, were traveling south when their vehicle drifted into the northbound lane, colliding with the driven by a 32-year-old woman from Lyman.

All three individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, where both Arthur and Catherine Karcher succumbed to their injuries.

Emergency responders from Sanford Police, Fire, and EMS provided assistance at the scene. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
