SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York – A fatal plane crash at Saratoga County Airport last month is under investigation, according to a preliminary report released by the National Transportation Safety Board on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on September 14 at approximately 3:30 p.m. The aircraft involved was a single-engine plane. Two occupants were aboard at the time of the crash; one was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other sustained serious injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center.
Authorities reported that the plane attempted to take off from the airport before crashing shortly after departure. Emergency responders from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department and local law enforcement were on scene to assist.
Investigators are examining whether mechanical failure or pilot error contributed to the incident. The NTSB indicated that a final report will be released after a thorough investigation.
