STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM-LD/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) – A pregnant woman crashed an SUV into a hotel and subsequently shot a guest before turning the gun on herself Thursday morning.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred early Thursday at a hotel in Sturbridge. The woman was found critically injured after the shooting, which was preceded by the vehicle crash.
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. stated that the woman drove to the hotel searching for two individuals she knew. Responding officers located a male guest suffering from a gunshot wound in front of the hotel; he was transported to Harrington Hospital and later airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Witnesses reported the woman exited the SUV shouting and fired multiple shots towards a hotel room. “She jumped out and was shouting, ‘Where are you? Where are you?'” said witness Stuart Mackelvie. “Then I heard glass shattering.”
As of now, the shooting victim's condition remains critical but stable. Authorities indicated that the victim was not the intended target.
Investigators have not provided further details regarding the motivations behind the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
