LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – DECEMBER 05, 2023 – Kate Beckinsale has joined the cast of “White,” a new shark survival film directed by Jake West.

“White” focuses on a struggling actress traveling for a shoot when their private jet crashes into the Pacific Ocean. The actress must rely on a satellite phone to seek help after her studio boss, played by Beckinsale, disregards her distress call.

Joining Beckinsale is Katherine McNamara, known for her role in “Shadowhunters,” who plays a marine biologist offering grim news about the crash site, the notorious White Shark Café.

In addition to acting, Beckinsale will serve as an executive producer. Other producers include Yariv Lerner, Dominic Burns, Crawford Anderson-Dillon, and Sky Morfopoulos. Highland Film Group is managing worldwide sales.

Arianne Fraser, CEO of Highland Film Group, described “White” as “an incredibly elevated and intense adventure for the ages, filled with tension, emotion, and ferocious sharks.”

This project follows Netflix's recent release, “Thrash,” which features a similar theme of survival against shark threats amid a hurricane.

Beckinsale's involvement in this genre continues the trend of shark-themed films, as the popularity of titles like “Sharknado” endures. A seventh “Sharknado” installment is also slated for a summer premiere.
