COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 17-year-old male is being held in the Franklin County Juvenile Intervention Center after a March 14 South Linden crash that killed two.

According to Franklin County Juvenile Court, the teen faces charges tied to a March 10 drive-by shooting at an apartment complex, including discharging a firearm into a habitation and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Prosecutors said the teen was driving a red Toyota Prius with three young passengers when shots were fired from the car, striking an apartment.

Columbus Police said the same Prius fled a traffic stop on March 14, ran a stop sign and collided with a Saturn in South Linden, killing Franklin Ward, 71, and Tessa Berry, 52.

Police said multiple firearms were recovered from the Prius; prosecutors said a loaded 9mm handgun was found on the driver.

Franklin County prosecutors said they will seek to try the juvenile as an adult.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it expects to complete the crash investigation next week and will request aggravated vehicular homicide charges from county prosecutors.
