Police chase ends with car crashing into canal in Kenner after I-10 pursuit.

KENNER, LA – A multi-parish police chase culminated in a crash into a canal Monday night, according to the Louisiana State Police.

At approximately 9 p.m., a state trooper attempted to pull over a Infiniti driven by 38-year-old David Freeman of Baker on Interstate 10 eastbound near the Bonnet Carré Spillway in St. Charles Parish. Freeman failed to stop, prompting a pursuit that ended when he lost control of the vehicle on West Esplanade Avenue near Florida Avenue in Kenner, crashing into a canal.

Authorities reported that the flipped over in the water. Photos and videos shared by WWL-TV showed the vehicle submerged. Freeman has been arrested on several charges, including aggravated flight from an officer and multiple driving-related offenses.

According to LSP Sergeant Ross Brennan, Freeman was booked into the Jefferson Parish Jail and had several outstanding warrants from other agencies. His additional charges include reckless operation of a vehicle, driving under suspension, failure to renew registration, and improper vehicle equipment. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Louisiana State Police have not indicated if other vehicles or individuals were involved.
