PITT COUNTY, N.C. — Traffic enforcement is being heightened in Pitt County as part of the annual Operation Crash Reduction campaign, which runs through Oct. 18.
The initiative, organized under the N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program, aims to combat dangerous driving during what is deemed one of the most hazardous months for fatal crashes.
According to the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, deputies will intensify their vigilance and enforcement of traffic laws. “Deputies are always on alert and enforcing unsafe driving practices,” Sheriff Paula Dance stated.
The Sheriff's Office advises drivers to slow down, wear seat belts, avoid aggressive driving, and refrain from operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Traffic enforcement will occur on both highways and residential areas throughout the campaign.
