MC CULLY, HI (Island News) – Late Tuesday night, emergency responders attended to a fatal crash on Bingham Street in McCully.
Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) crews arrived at 11:55 p.m. after a pickup truck, carrying four passengers, collided with a parked vehicle. According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), a 26-year-old woman was driving eastbound when she sideswiped the parked car, which subsequently hit a second parked vehicle and a fire hydrant.
The impact caused the woman's vehicle to overturn. Rescuers stabilized the truck, allowing two passengers to exit, while hydraulic tools were used to free the other two.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) confirmed that the driver, along with a 25-year-old woman, sustained severe injuries. The driver was transported in critical condition, while the passenger was in serious condition. A baby girl and another woman at the scene did not require hospitalization.
HPD later announced that the 26-year-old driver succumbed to her injuries. Both she and the baby were wearing seatbelts, whereas the other two passengers were not.
Authorities are investigating whether speed, drugs, or alcohol were factors in the collision. This incident marks Oahu's 26th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 59 at this time in 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
