LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 66-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Sahara Avenue at Torrey Pines Drive on Friday night.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the incident occurred at approximately 7:49 p.m. A 2010 Mazda 3, driven by a 17-year-old juvenile, was traveling south on Torrey Pines Drive in a designated left-turn lane when the collision happened.
Authorities reported that the pedestrian was crossing Sahara Avenue from north to south when the driver made a left turn, hitting the man and projecting him onto the roadway. The Mazda came to a stop east of the intersection.
Emergency medical services transported the pedestrian to UMC Trauma, where his injuries were assessed as critical. The driver remained on the scene and showed no signs of impairment, with no injuries reported for the driver or a passenger.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Collision Investigation Section is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
