LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A pedestrian was killed Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Pecos Road and Hacienda Avenue.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department dispatch received a call at approximately 7:11 a.m. regarding the incident. Investigators reported an 83-year-old woman was walking eastbound in the south crosswalk when a 2023 Ford F-350, traveling westbound on Hacienda Avenue, turned left at the intersection.
According to police, the collision occurred as the truck made a westbound-to-southbound turn on a green traffic signal, striking the pedestrian. The impact projected her onto the roadway, and the driver stopped the vehicle just south of the intersection.
Emergency medical services transported the pedestrian to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the hospital despite life-saving efforts.
Authorities stated the driver remained at the scene and exhibited no signs of impairment. An investigation is ongoing by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section. Motorists are advised to avoid the area as the investigation proceeds.
