Pedestrian Dies Following Weekend Collision in Kunia Area
HONOLULU (Island News) – A pedestrian involved in a collision in the Kunia area over the weekend has died, according to authorities.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office confirmed on Tuesday that the unidentified man succumbed to his injuries following the incident on the H-1 eastbound on-ramp early Sunday morning, October 11. This marks Oahu's 33rd traffic fatality of the year, compared to 69 fatalities during the same period in 2025.
The vehicle operator, a 60-year-old man, was driving eastbound when he struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the on-ramp outside of a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the driver remained uninjured at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that speed, drugs, and alcohol were not contributing factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing, according to Honolulu Police Department.
