GOLDSBORO, NC — A pedestrian was killed and another injured in a Friday morning accident on South John Street when a vehicle struck two individuals in wheelchairs.
Goldsboro Patrol Division officers responded around 9:44 a.m. to the incident on the 1500 block of South John Street. A 50-year-old driver was traveling north when she hit the pedestrians, who were also moving in that direction.
Cheniko Pugh, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 70-year-old male pedestrian was transported to UNC Health Wayne for medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
