One person killed in semi-truck crash on I-215 in Taylorsville, leading to highway shutdown.

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (KUTV) — A crash involving a semi-truck and a on I-215 left one person dead on Monday afternoon.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a Elantra was traveling eastbound near Redwood Road when the hood became unlatched and flipped up. The driver stopped in between lanes, where a semi-truck following behind could not stop in time and crashed into the rear of the .

The driver of the Hyundai was confirmed dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver was uninjured. The collision resulted in a near milepost 14.

Initially, two lanes were closed on I-215, but the entire eastbound route at Redwood Road was shut down for approximately four hours. Authorities are advising motorists to use I-15 as an alternate route and expect significant delays between Taylorsville and West Jordan.
