Officers shoot at fleeing vehicle, resulting in fatal crash and death of man in Logan neighborhood.

A 48-year-old man was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Friday morning.

According to the Cache County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted a traffic stop on Roger Dean Campbell around 9 a.m. near 1500 West 600 South. The officers were investigating Campbell for violating a pretrial protective order related to domestic violence offenses.

Campbell fled the scene, driving into a nearby neighborhood. During the encounter, a CCSO deputy discharged their weapon, and Campbell crashed his vehicle into a tree.

Emergency responders attempted to provide medical aid, but Campbell was at the scene.

The Northern Utah Critical Incident Team has been activated to investigate the incident, which is standard procedure following such events.

No deputies were reported injured, and further details regarding lane closures or other impacts were not immediately available.
