Topeka Crash Results in One Fatality, One Injury

TOPEKA, KS — July 4, 2026, 1:14 p.m. CT — One person was killed and another severely injured in a collision between a and late July 3 in northeast Topeka, according to police.

The crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of NE Sumner Street and Seward Avenue, reported Lt. Michael Hren of the Topeka Police Department.

“Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported to a Topeka hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with serious injuries,” Hren said. “At the hospital, one of the occupants was pronounced deceased.”

The names and ages of the victims have not been released. Authorities temporarily closed the area to traffic for investigation purposes.
