MESQUITE, Nev. (KUTV) — One person was killed in a four-car collision involving an RV on Interstate 15 near Mesquite on Sunday.
The crash occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the northbound lanes, according to Mesquite Fire Rescue. Footage from the scene displayed an RV overturned and engulfed in flames.
Three individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment, while one unidentifiable victim was confirmed deceased at the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) is investigating the incident's cause. Initial reports describe the event as a “heartbreaking tragedy.” Authorities commended bystanders who intervened to assist the injured prior to emergency responders' arrival.
NHP noted that citizens acted selflessly by rescuing victims from the burning RV and providing assistance such as water and blankets.
Mesquite Fire Rescue emphasized the importance of driver attentiveness, urging motorists to reduce speeds and avoid distractions.
First responders included NHP, Mesquite Fire Rescue, Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Department, Mesquite Police Department, and Life Flight.
