FORT PIERCE, Fla. — One person died and two others were seriously injured in a crash Friday night at an intersection, police reported.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. Friday, the Fort Pierce Police Department responded to a serious crash at Virginia Avenue and South 35th Street involving two vehicles.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Silverado was turning left onto South 35th Street when a Dodge Charger, traveling eastbound on Virginia Avenue at a high rate of speed, collided with it.
A passenger in the Silverado, 58-year-old Timothy A. Ecker of Fort Pierce, was ejected during the incident and sustained severe injuries. He was transported to Lawnwood Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Both drivers were also taken to Lawnwood Hospital, where they are reported to be in serious condition.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities pursuing all leads related to the crash.
