One dead and three seriously injured in high-speed crash in Madison.

MADISON (WKOW) — A crash on South Midvale Boulevard early Tuesday morning resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to the Madison Fire Department.

The accident occurred just after 12:30 a.m. when the vehicle, traveling at high speed, struck a tree in the center median. Firefighters found one person trapped in the vehicle; the 19-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his name.

Three additional passengers sustained serious injuries and were treated by paramedics before being transported to the hospital. The incident prompted a response from the Madison Fire Department and the Madison Police Department, who are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

The scene was cleared by 2 a.m., and lane closures were in effect during the emergency response.
