Multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 264 in Beaufort County claims life of 62-year-old pedestrian.

A pedestrian was struck and killed Saturday night in a crash on U.S. 264 in Beaufort County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred around 10:51 p.m. on September 6 near Brittany Place.

Authorities reported that 62-year-old Raymond Silverthorne was walking westbound in the right travel lane while pushing a shopping cart. He was then struck by one of two westbound passenger vehicles.

Subsequently, a second vehicle also collided with the shopping cart. Silverthorne, who was wearing dark clothing, sustained fatal injuries and was at the scene.

No charges are anticipated against the drivers involved, as confirmed by the Highway Patrol.
