Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Route 17 near Warden Leaves 2 Hospitalized Friday

At Least 2 Injured in Warden Crash on State Route 17

Warden, Washington (March 14, 2022) – Two people were following a fiery collision nearly two miles south of Warden on Friday evening, the Washington State Patrol said.

Two cars and a semi truck were involved in the collision that took place at around 6:15 p.m. March 11, on State Route 17.

Jorge Gomez-Acevedo, 30, was reportedly driving a vehicle south on SR 17 when he collided with the rear of a that was stopped to make a left turn.

The impact caused Acevedo's vehicle to rotate and was hit by a northbound semi driven by James Lewis, 39.

Both vehicles in the secondary collision ended up in a grassy area nearly 15 feet off the road.

Acevedo and a passenger in the vehicle, Melbin Quezada Carrera, 27, were both transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake for treatment of their injuries.

A second passenger in the vehicle, Oscar Zepeda, 24, was to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane with major injuries.

Lewis and the third driver, Tiffany Hymas, 33, were not hurt in the incident.

Zepeda was not wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred.

The WSP is investigating the incident.
